Martin Odegaard: Arsenal determined to 'go far' in Champions League

Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard is eager to see his side claim a crucial Champions League win and a spot in the tournament's playoffs.

The Gunners will host Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday in their final home match of the Champions League group stage, with the Gunners aiming for a vital win to secure a place in the playoffs.

Currently in third place with 13 points from 18, Arsenal are on the cusp of qualification.

Arsenal's home record in the Champions League since their 2017 humiliation by Bayern Munich has been stellar, with no defeats at the Emirates since that crushing loss.

However, Dinamo Zagreb, managed by a World Cup-winning captain, sit just inside the unseeded playoff positions and will be looking to cause an upset in London.

"We really want to go far in this competition, and after last year we are determined to go further. Tonight is a big chance to get closer to that next round," Odegaard wrote in his captain's notes on the official Arsenal website.

"It's difficult to know how many points you will need in this new league format, but what we can say is that if we can get three points tonight, that would be a really big step for us with just one game left before the knockouts.

"We have worked hard in the league so far, so let's make sure we finish it off well so we can get to the next round.

"The main goal is to go and win the tournament, and finishing as high as possible in the group could be crucial for that."
