Marvin Ducksch's performance for Germany attracts Premier League interest

Marvin Ducksch has officially joined the ranks of A-national players following his recent Germany call-up during the international break.

The 29-year-old Werder Bremen striker, who made appearances in both matches against Turkey (2-3) and Austria (0-2), seized the opportunity to showcase his skills on the grand stage, catching the eye of clubs such as Nottingham Forest.

According to a report from Sport BILD, the Premier League side are showing keen interest in Ducksch. Nottingham Forest currently sit at 13th place in the English league after twelve games. While Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood have been effective with four and three goals, respectively, they share a similar towering striker profile. In contrast, Ducksch is known for drifting to the wings and has perfected his partnership with Niclas Füllkrug as a dynamic attacking duo.

Responding to the speculation, Werder's licensing manager Clemens Fritz dismissed any immediate departure for Ducksch. "A winter transfer is not on the table for us," Fritz stated to BILD. Meanwhile, in England, there is surprise at the report, with Transfermarkt information suggesting Ducksch is not even a consideration for Nottingham.

Similar to the situation with the Bundesliga's top scorer from the previous season, Werder Bremen are likely to demand a transfer fee in the double-digit million range for Ducksch. Sport BILD speculate that the asking price could be comparable to Fullkrug's, who moved to Borussia Dortmund in the summer for a base fee of ‚¬15 million.

In the ongoing Bundesliga season, Ducksch has netted six goals and provided four assists in twelve appearances. In the calendar year 2023 alone, he boasts 15 goals, surpassing every other German player in the top-15 leagues (according to statistics). The striker, part of the Bremen squad since 2021, committed to the Weser side by extending his contract until 2026 in July, with no release clause.

Ducksch's great form not only earned him national recognition but also stirred interest from the English Premier League, creating a potential transfer saga with Werder Bremen standing firm on their valuation of the prolific forward.
