McCarthy set to visit Brentford and Palace this month

Former AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy has confirmed to SABC Sport that he will be visiting English Premier League outfit Brentford FC this week, while his manager is finalising another trip to Crystal Palace later this month

McCarthy, who is currently unattached having left Usuthu in March, holds a UEFA Pro License. He says the visits are part of improving his craft.

"Obviously I wanna take the time while I'm this side of the world because the access it™s much easier for me, when you are here travelling down to England visiting clubs and stuff like that you know, so I've spoken with people at Brentford FC.

"I just need to confirm a day cause obviously they™ve got Man U Monday night football they paly Man u so I'll probably be looking at Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday's week you know I will go down to West London to go and visit at Bentford and obviously have a lunch with a head coach Thomas Frank" McCarthy confirmed

McCarthy says his stature as an ex-Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United player is the key to opening doors for him in Europe.

For the 44-year-old, who got his first coaching job at Cape Town City five years ago, added that the Brentford visit is also a fact-finding mission for him.

"What they get to work with and what the difference is between why they are where they are and why we in South Africa we still falling short

"But as branded that we are a demanding country and we wanna improve, we wanna be there, but look you have to look at facts Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates, now Baroka FC that has proper proper, the old cape town Ajax they have training facility where players come in the morning where it™s like a top professional set up.

"Players come in the morning and they have breakfast and you have everything to your disposal and players go out and go on have their own training facility, their own training pitches where they can train and work on the craft and become better and then after wards the club is looking after you¦. all that plays a huge part in players development and country said McCarthy

McCarthy believes South Africa would need catch-up to the rest of the world if they are to compete at the highest level¦
