Motebang Sera seals draw for Royal AM against CT City

Royal AM and Cape Town City played out a 1-1 draw in their Betway Premiership opener at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday, with both sides sharing the spoils after a late goal from Motebang Sera.

City took an early lead in the 8th minute when Prins Tjiueza finished a well-placed through ball from Jaedin Rhodes, firing into the top right corner.

City dominated the early stages, and Jaedin Rhodes almost doubled their lead, but his effort sailed over the bar in the 13th minute.

Royal AM struggled to gain momentum in the first half, with their best chance coming in the 38th minute when Sabelo Sithole's left-footed shot was saved by City goalkeeper Darren Keet.

CT City's Darwin González came close to extending their lead when his shot hit the post just before half-time.

Royal AM made several changes in the second half, including the introduction of Sera and Sanele Radebe.

Their persistence paid off in the 84th minute when Radebe delivered a pinpoint cross to Sera, who struck a brilliant right-footed shot into the top right corner, levelling the match 1-1.

Both sides pushed for a winner, but the game ended 1-1 after 94 minutes, with neither team able to break the deadlock again.
