The Dube Birds signed the Zambian international in August 2021 on a two-year deal that will run down at the end of next month.
Musonda had very little game time despite being termed a “big fish” by the club when initially brought in to bolster their attack.
But his numbers suggest he was a shadow of the player he was during his spell at Black Leopards, where he clinched the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award for the 2018/19 season with 16 goals from 28 league matches before he moved to the Middle East.
Swallows had four different coaches since Musonda joined the club - Brandon Truter, Dylan Kerr, Musa Nyatama and Ernst Middendorp - which could have affected his performance.
He played 24 matches under Truter and Kerr during his first year and scored four goals.
In the season that just ended, with Swallows again surviving relegation in the final weeks, Musonda managed just 12 appearances, with three goals.
The Soweto outfit are set to reshuffle the squad, Nyatama is expected to continue as head coach, and Musonda is set to be one of the big names to leave the nest when his contract ends on 30 June.
Swallows chairman David Mogashoa has so far kept mum about the imminent changes, but the club will make announcements before 1 July when the registration window opens.
