Namibia womens national team coach Paulus Shipanga says the Hollywoodbets Super League serves as motivation for their Football Association as they prepare to face Banyana Banyana in the COSAFA Championship semifinal on Friday.
South Africa is one of a handful of countries that have made great strides in the space over the years and their counterparts have looked on with envy.
Shipanga, who is a former says facing Banyana is a milestone on his journey with the Namibian team, considering hes only been with them for a month.
"It's probably one of the biggest games my girls will have, we're very excited and there's no need for other motivation than playing the hosts," said Shipanga.
"There's no pressure on us because when you're playing the hosts, everybody expects them to be the one getting on top, so we'll just go out, enjoy the game, we'll give them as much of a tough time as possible and ja, results might come and we'll take it from there.
"When you look at our [situation], we don't have a league. We haven't had a women's league, I think for the past two or three years now, [while] South Africa is there and moving. I was telling this friend of mine, Banyana Banyana probably has four or five Banyana teams that are strong enough for everybody to compete.
"But we are ready because it's a learning curve for most of my girls but, like I said, we won't take it laying down, we'll fight and we'll give them a test, and if the result goes for us, we are thankful for that; if not, we'll learn from it and take it further on that [journey]."
The two sides will square off in the semi-final at the Wolfson Stadium at 15:30 this afternoon.
