Nasreddine Nabi described as a father figure at Kaizer Chiefs

Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango has spoken glowingly about Amakhosi’s newly appointed coach Nasreddine Nabi after spending close to three weeks with him during a pre-season camp in Turkey.

Msimango will this afternoon lead Amakhosi in their first preseason friendly match on home soil under Nabi when they take on Tanzanian giants Yanga in a Toyota Cup match. After spending about 18 days in the European camp with Nabi, Msimango has described Nabi as a father figure and a highly demanding coach.

"What you see is what you get with our coach, a very straightforward person, highly demanding when it comes to player performances on the pitch but more importantly, a father figure as well, it's not only hard work," Msimango said.

"You can always go to him for advice on certain things that you don't understand when it comes to the game of football but as time goes by, we'll understand him a bit better. We are still learning him but so far, so good."

Chiefs played four training matches in Turkey, as the players familiarized themselves with Nabi and his four-man technical team tactics.

Msimango says there’s definitely a major shift under Nabi philosophy-wise as compared to last season.

"The games in our Turkey camp were highly competitive. I think the first one was more of an amateur side team but the other three were very competitive. We were able to gauge ourselves in terms of understanding where we are in terms of the philosophy and what the demands of the coach are towards us," he added.

"So, it was a full test for us, the method and how they do things is totally different to what we were accustomed to last season with our previous coaches. A whole new dynamic, whole new philosophies come into play and I think it does help that the league has been pushed back a bit to give us more time to adapt to the system and try and perfect where we are lacking."
