Nasreddine Nabi praises Fiacre Ntwari for keeping Amakhosi in the game

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has reserved some praise for the club’s number one goalkeeper and Rwandan international Fiacre Ntwari for making crucial saves that kept the team in the game.

Nabi was commenting in the post-match press conference after seeing his team hammering a 10-man SuperSport United side 4-0 in a Carling Knockout last 16 match at the Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane last night.

Goals from Gaston Sirino, Yusuf Maart, Ranga Chivaviuro, and Ashley du Preez made the difference on the night.

Nabi says Ntwari deserves all the credit for this clean sheet.

''It's a good thing, It is a good victory - but we have to congratulate Fiacre because he made some saves to allow us to get back to the game. In those critical moments he showed up. But it is the work of the entire team, all the players who were on the pitch,'' said Nabi.

Leading to this game, Nabi had waxed lyrical about the importance of Sirino to this Chiefs team and his crucial role since he joined them from Sundowns in the off-season.

After scoring a goal and assisting in this game, he felt vindicated.

But the Tunisian-Belgian-born coach says the Uruguayan attacker was not at his usual best due to the injury he’s returning from.

''It is true that Sirino has helped us today, and we thank him for that. But today he was not at his maximum fitness. He is coming from injury, he hasn't trained much in the last days. But today he showed that he can make a difference and that is why we changed him  because we were aware that he was not in his full capacity. We know when he gets back to his full capacity, you will see more of him. And we know that the younger players can learn a lot from him,'' added Nabi.

The scoreline reflected the most number of goals Chiefs has scored in one game this season, and this takes the tally of goals they have scored in four matches this season to 10. Despite winning with a big margin, Nabi still feels their performance could have been better in this game.

''I don't think that in the overall 90 minutes we had a good performance because there were moments where we allowed the opponents to get wide balls, to get crosses. But, with a cup game you don't play it, you just need to win it because it's a cup game,'' he expressed.

Nabi also dedicated this win to Amakhosi Chairman and founder of the club Kaizer Motaung Senior, who celebrated his 80th birthday this past Wednesday.
