The two teams produced a spectacle when they met at the same venue in September, and Nabi expects nothing less from today’s game.
Amakhosi faithful are expected to be dominant on the stands as they were in the league game, and with the Brazilians strikers, Lucas Ribeiro Costa and Peter Shalulile, starting to hit the high notes, Nabi knows that they will have to bring their A-game tonight.
"If you remember the last game against Mamelodi Sundowns, I feel like it was a very good game of football with a lot of entertainment, technically, tactically and on both sides,” Nabi said.
“We hope and we believe that the game that is coming this Saturday, it's gonna be entertaining for all South African fans and everyone. We know that both teams are gonna do everything they can to win the game and qualify."
Sundowns have been hugely dominant in this fixture, unbeaten against Chiefs in the last 10 matches, a statistic that is also supported by their dominance in the league, having won the last seven championships.
But Nabi says Amakhosi are a big team and will fight for their previous badge.
"Mamelodi Sundowns has been one of the biggest teams in Africa these last years, which doesn't takeaway that we as Kaizer Cheifs are coming to this game with a lot of confidence and we will do everything to win this game and to qualify,” the coach added. “Which is the nature of every league cup and we are confident in our abilities for Saturday.”
Chiefs have only managed to keep one clean sheet in six matches in all competitions so far, and that was during the 4-0 demolition of SuperSport United in the last 16 round of the Carling Knockout.
There were some elementary mistakes in their previous game, where they were held to a 2-all draw by Magesi FC. But Nabi has downplayed some of these defensive lapses.
"I believe how the game is scheduled and there is not a lot of things that we can do about it but we believe that from the first game to today there is a lot of things that have happened. We believe that individually and collectively, the team has improved."
