Nasreddine Nabi vows to take risks during Kaizer Chiefs tenure

Following their 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants in their opening Betway Premiership clash on Saturday night, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says he will not be afraid to experiment.

The Tunisian demonstrated this with his substitutions, which paid off as attacker Mfundo Vilakazi scored the winner from the bench.

Nabi insists it is in his nature as a coach to take risks.

"I think this is a coaching  job and that's not what you need to focus on, you need to focus on the game and you need to make the right decision in the right moment. Sometimes maybe we take the risk because I changed in the 75th minute," Nabi said.

The Amakhosi match winner has been in the spotlight for some time now since graduating to the senior team.

Nabi says he will make it his mission to protect Vilakazi.

"I'm very happy for my team and for Vilakazi because I love him, he's like my son but I need to protect him. He's not starting because I'm protecting him from media, from the magazines because he has great talent,” the coach added.

“He needs to understand if you are starting for the squad of Kaizer Chiefs, too much sacrifice but this is my job to protect my talent. I'm very happy with him, I'm very happy with the new players and congratulations to them."

With the PSL transfer window closing on Friday and Chiefs still with several players in the market, Nabi suggested he’d be satisfied with the current group if he did not add any more new faces.

"For myself, I haven't accepted any proposition for new players, I need to take my time because this is a big responsibility. I think all the new players that played today, congratulations to my committee and to the owner for giving me this possibility and this green card. I think we have very, very good new players."
