The Brazilian, 27, has struggled to find his footing at Spurs and is said to be considering an exit to boost his chances of securing a place in Brazil's 2026 World Cup squad.
Transfer expert Ben Jacobs has suggested that Richarlison could emerge as a key target for Newcastle, who are keen to bolster their squad to revive their European ambitions.
With injuries to key players like Callum Wilson and Sven Botman, and Miguel Almiron's dip in form, Newcastle's attack and defence both lack depth, a fact underscored by their failed summer attempt to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
Newcastle's Premier League campaign has been marred by inconsistency, with the team sitting 12th on the table after five wins, five draws, and five losses. Injuries and a lack of squad depth have hindered their performances.
Despite their ambition to strengthen in January, the club faces financial constraints due to the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.
"There is some substance to Richarlison and Newcastle, but price is the big issue because Spurs have been adamant throughout all of 2024 that if they're to entertain an offer, it's £60million or more," Jacobs said.
"Newcastle would not be looking anywhere near that number, given the player's injury record and his form.
"Therefore, if this is to develop and Richarlison is open to going to another Premier League club, it would have to be from Newcastle's point of view around the £40-45m mark."
