Newcastle set to sign promising forward William Osula

Newcastle United are reportedly on the verge of securing a transfer by targeting Denmark U21 international William Osula, who has Nigerian roots.

The Magpies have entered advanced negotiations with Sheffield United, aiming to finalise a deal for the talented forward.

According to Sky Sports, discussions have revolved around a £10 million fee, with potential add-ons amounting to £5 million based on performance, pushing the total possible transfer cost to £15 million.

Osula, born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and Nigerian father, qualified as a homegrown player in the Premier League. He has spent six years with Sheffield United, becoming a familiar name in English football.

His Premier League experience includes 21 appearances in the 2023-2024 season, though it ended in relegation for the Blades.

The 20-year-old forward had been particularly impressive during pre-season, scoring in consecutive matches against York City and Chesterfield. This performance reportedly caught the attention of Newcastle's scouts, who saw potential in Osula to bolster their attacking options.

If the deal proceeds as expected, Osula looks poised to sign a multi-year contract with Newcastle.

Reflecting on his journey, Osula spent part of the 2022-2023 season on loan at Derby County, where he scored five goals in 21 appearances across all competitions. His development at FC Copenhagen's youth academy has laid a solid foundation for his professional career.

Osula's contract with Sheffield United is set to run until June 30, 2027. His impending move to Newcastle marks a significant step in his career, offering him a chance to shine in the Premier League with a club eager to strengthen their squad.
