NPA have to decide if they are formally charging Danny Jordaan - Bart Henderson

Forensic Investigator Bart Henderson says now that South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan has provided a warning statement to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), this could be the time for the NPA to formally charge him.

Speaking on Sports Night Amplified with Andile Ncube on Metro FM last night, Henderson who has been making headlines in recent weeks ever since he started investigating some corruption allegations at SAFA and Jordaan, feels that the NPA has got tangible evidence to take the case forward.

This matter relates to the questionable acquisition of the SAFA (Fun Valley) Technical Centre to the tune of R65-million.

"Well essentially the NPA now have to decide whether they are going to formally charge Danny Jordaan. Gronie Hluyo, obviously not having signed a warning statement decided on what the way forward is going to be in that regard, whether they also gonna just charge him or not," Henderson said.

"Now we wait on the NPA to decide whether they are gonna press formal charges or not but I don't think they were gonna get to this stage unless the investigation has led to the direction where they believe there are charges that can be laid," he explained.

"Throughout this process, you can't investigate people's financial crimes while you leave, I mean if the CFO is a suspect or is under investigation or is an accused then you know, you shouldn't be living them where they are, which is the gatekeeper to the financial records surely. It's just bad practice."

An evaluation that was later done on the Fun Valley property is alleged to have put the worth of that facility around R30 million. And this leads to Henderson saying Jordaan should step aside from his elected position once he’s been charged by the NPA.

"The NPA letter that is in the report and the information that I have is that specifically the charges against Danny Jordaan and the CFO for mismanagement. Danny Jordaan has signed a warning statement. I think Gronie Hluyo is trying to avoid that all costs," Henderson explained.

"But these are specific charges where the principal accused is Danny Jordaan himself and I am saying, if you have all these irregularities and the indicators and there is a criminal complaint, surely the head of that organisation should step aside while this matter is being investigated.

"There should be a forensic investigation as to what is going on at SAFA because there is obviously something off colour. Pending that investigation, you should have people that are implicated directly not by me, by the facts, stepping aside while the process takes its course."
