Despite speculation, former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will not be stepping in as a replacement for Sahin, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
Local publications have definitively ruled out ten Hag as an option, leaving Dortmund with fewer avenues to explore.
While the hunt for a new manager continues, the names of Germany assistant coach Sandro Wagner and ex-Benfica manager Roger Schmidt have surfaced, yet neither appears eager to take the reins at Signal Iduna Park.
Additionally, Urs Fischer, previously with Union Berlin, has been mentioned in connection with the role.
The spotlight, however, isn't just on the managerial situation. Dortmund are also making headlines for their transfer activities.
Marcus Rashford, the out-of-favour Manchester United forward, might soon don the yellow and black.
According to Bild, if negotiations proceed as planned, Rashford could undergo a medical with Dortmund next week, potentially signing on loan by Thursday.
This potential transfer, however, comes with a significant cost. Even though Rashford is reportedly open to a salary reduction, Dortmund would still face wage costs of between 6 to 8 million euros for the duration of the loan.
Rashford has not featured for Manchester United since their 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest on December 7, adding urgency to his potential move.
As Dortmund navigate these choppy waters, all eyes are on Tuesday's crucial match against Bologna, which could either solidify Sahin's position or push the club towards a new era with a new coach, and possibly, a new star striker.
