Nuri Sahin's tactics raise questions after Dortmund's Stuttgart thrashing

Borussia Dortmund's coach Nuri Sahin faced scrutiny from his players following their 5-1 defeat against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, their first loss of the season.

According to reports from Bild, several tactical decisions made by the 36-year-old coach have sparked confusion in the dressing room.

One key issue was Sahin's choice to deploy Marcel Sabitzer on the right wing, despite the Austrian international's preference for a central midfield role, which Sabitzer has openly stated.

Sahin's constant switching between a three-man and four-man defensive line has also caused uncertainty among the squad.

Player substitutions during the Stuttgart game left many puzzled, particularly the absence of Maximilian Beier, who remained on the bench for the entire 90 minutes.

Questions were also raised about why Julien Duranville didn't feature, and why Felix Nmecha was selected over team captain Emre Can.

Following the heavy defeat, Sahin didn't hold back. "I will never see such a face again. This is not how we as Borussia Dortmund should play," he declared.

"You don't see this coming. Fact is: Borussia Dortmund can't perform like that. That was a non-performance."

Dortmund are set to bounce back when they take on VfL Bochum at Signal Iduna Park on Friday.
