It was approximately a month ago when Pirates lost their opening game of the season away to Stellenbosch in the league.
The two teams meet at the Athlone stadium in the afternoon (15:00) with Pirates on a high, having won five of their last six matches and drawn the other game.
After the 1-0 loss at the Danie Craven stadium, Riveiro stopped short of talking about revenge.
"Well, the fact that we couldn't make it to win a few weeks ago because it seems like we played already six months but it was only a few weeks. It's also an extra motivation because we couldn't make it," Riveiro said.
"I think we played a good game like I said several times already in Stellenbosch but not good enough to get the result that we were looking for and the draw gave us an opportunity to play them very soon that we don't have to wait for the second game in the league in Orlando.
We have an opportunity to go back again and try to do it better. Especially try and get a good result which is winning. That's the intention as I said before, we are going there with the intention to win the game. We are not looking for any specific result obviously, we just want to go there and be better than Stellenbosch."
With rain predicted in Cape Town today according to the weather forecast, Riveiro says these weather conditions could have an effect on this game, especially moving from Danie Craven Stadium to a windy Athlone stadium. But the Spanish-born coach is welcoming the better pitch condition of today’s match venue.
"If you check the estimation for the weather on Sunday it seems that it's gonna be a rainy day, heavy rain actually. It's a windy place also so the wind will play a big role in Athlone Stadium. It’s my first time there but watching the game yesterday from far which is never the reality but from far the grass looks better than the place where we played our first game."
