Pablo Martin impressed with Veli Mothwa and defends Abbubaker Mobara

AmaZulu FC coach Pablo Franco Martin hails Veli Mothwa for bouncing back, following a very challenging spell.

Mothwa, had a very interesting season - lost his number one spot to Olwethu Mzimela in the first half of the season, went on to win a bronze medal in the African Cup of Nations with Bafana Bafana.

Following his back to back man of the match performance in the 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday evening. Martins felt tight competition within the team has improved Veli's game.

''I think it is a fact, he performed very good in the first half of the season.  We then recently gave the opportunity to Mzimela, but Veli now is back performing well and the competition is good,'' said Martin.

Usuthu defender Abbubaker Mobara was subbed off early in the second half. There was fear of him getting another red card in a space of two weeks.

Having a player like him, who is a hard tackler can be challenging to manage for coaches. However, Martin says there is nothing wrong with Mobara, stating that he is a human being with feelings and it is not hard to manage him.

He further expressed concerns about officiating in the DSTV Premiership.

''You are talking about the yellow card, you saw what happened regarding the refereeing and what happened to us,'' added Martin.

AmaZulu have conceded 27 goals in 28 games, scoring only 22. The Spanish mentor giving his own assessment of their performances. He admits poor decisions upfront costed them some games, and the defense has improved from last season.Hoping for better next season.
