Percy Tau denies alleged rift with Al Ahly coach Marcel Kohler

Al Ahly and Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau has denied reports in Egypt that he has fallen out with club coach Marcel Kohler and could leave.

SABC Sport has also established Morocco giants Wydad Athletic Club, now led by Rulani Mokwena, are ready to table an offer for the apparently unsettled player with this being the final year of his contract.

Speaking on Sports Night Amplified to host Andile Ncube, Tau cleared the air on claims coming out of Cairo.

"It's normal for me because since I've been there there's always been such reports that I'm leaving the club, ‘Percy and the club have parted ways, he's got a problem with the coach’ which is not true but then it's just part of the reporting which I'm used to,” Tau said.

“It gets a bit difficult and intense during the end of the season because it's the transfer time but then I'm used to it and I always have the support of the people back home, my family, the fans back home. So, I don't worry much.

“When coach Pitso [Mosimane] was there, I knew at some point one of us would leave so one has to prepare for himself what happens after and then the club reassured me that, ‘You've got a contract here it's just fortunate that the coach has to leave and then you'll continue with us.’

Even though I did not need that assurance because I knew that one of us would leave at some point and then there were times when I had to face what was being written but for me it's mainly just to play football."

Tau returns to Egypt on Sunday having taken some time off and is aware that his future will continue to be the subject to speculation with his contract ending at the end of June next year.

The striker admitted there were no formal talks yet.

"Look, I think everything just happened so fast so with the reporting because when I left the club everyone was just happy to say go on a break, we are all going on a break, enjoy your time back home just follow the programme, train whenever you can,” he added.

“That's where we are at but then I know my manager spoke to the sporting [director] there and then we'll see what happens, if there's a new contract, if there's no new contract but we'll see what happens.

“I'm not worried, all I wanted was just to get the break and come back home. We still have enough time to really speak about the contract, I mean we have a year right now but it's gonna be difficult because we have to speak in these six months."
