Peter Shalulile heads late winner as Mamelodi Sundowns edge Royal AM

Peter Shalulile scored with a late header as champions Mamelodi Sundowns maintained their unbeaten league run with a 1-0 victory against Royal AM.

Masandawana had initially struggled to break down the stubborn defence from the visitors but forward Shalulile popped up with a diving header five minutes from full-time.

The champions dominated the contest without being at their very best, especially in the final third of the opponents where passes and opportunities went astray.

Sundowns are now 26 matches into the league campaign, with 20 wins, and have yet to taste a defeat and have four games remaining to complete an invincible title victory.

The Brazlians also have the record PSL points total of 73 in their sights as they currently sit on 66.

Royal AM for their part were solid enough at the back and were a danger on the counter-attack with some pacy forwards on the pitch.

John Maduka's charges are still only five points ahead of Richards Bay in the relegation play-off place with three games of the season remaining.

The teams will meet again on Tuesday in another league clash at the Harry Gwala Stadium in a game that was postponed earlier in the campaign.
