Prior to the transfer window shutting at midnight last Friday, Appollis’ future was hanging in the air, with both Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs bidding for his services.
The 23-year-old was also said to be growing impatient as City also ignored offers from North Africa, but Mohafe says this hasn’t affected their star player.
"With the speculation of Appollis dragging up until the last hours or minutes of the window, that one I don't have power over, so I can't say much on it," said Mohafe.
"I think it hasn't affected him much psychologically, because he knows he has a contract with Polokwane City, where he has to provide and produce good performances every day that he plays."
Appollis, a member of the Bafana squad that returned with an AFCON bronze medal earlier this year, remains likely to attract big offers in the next transfer window, and Mohafe says it’s important he continues to perform and attract good offers.
"For him to give those guys [a reason] to still be persisting on him, he should [keep] giving the good performances, and for him to remain in the national team, he has to still give good performances for the club, which is Polokwane City."
