Pietro Lo Monaco slams Victor Osimhen for stalling Napoli exit

Italian football administrator Pietro Lo Monaco has criticised Victor Osimhen's handling of a lengthy transfer saga, which has left the striker sidelined at Napoli.

Osimhen, who has been instrumental for Napoli over the past three seasons, has drawn attention from top European clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, PSG, and Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli.

However, his potential move has been mired in complications, reportedly due to either his personal demands or Napoli's steep asking price.

The 24-year-old Nigerian forward has not featured for Napoli since the season began, missing crucial fixtures, including their Coppa Italia clash against Modena and Serie A matches against Verona and Bologna.

This absence has sparked widespread discussion in Italy, with Lo Monaco voicing his disapproval of Osimhen's approach.

"The market sets the price, and it's up to the president to accept or decline offers.

"But his management has been a joke; it's inconceivable for a player to refuse to play," Lo Monaco remarked, as reported by Calcio Napoli.

With less than 48 hours until the transfer window closes, Osimhen's next move remains uncertain, despite ongoing speculation.

The clock is ticking, and a resolution must be found before the deadline at 23h59 on August 30.
