Amakhosi’s new assistant coach, Fernando Da Cruz, arrived in the country yesterday and is expected to hold the fort until the arrival of the soon-to-be-appointed head coach, Nasreddine Nabi.
Mmodi, who was amongst the top goal scorers at the club with only four goals this past season, sounds excited about the changes in the team.
"The rest is over, it's time for me to go and do what I can do, the best for my team and I'm looking forward to the new season. I think I'm ready for the changes in the team and I think also playing with other new players makes me hopeful. I wish they can bring luck to the team for the new season," Mmodi said.
Da Cruz is expected to run the rule on the Chiefs’ current squad in preparation for the 18-day training camp in Turkey, starting on the fourth of next month.
Mmodi is confident that these preparations, coupled with the new changes in the team, will pave the way for a return to the glory days at Naturena Village.
"Yeah, I'm looking forward to that, I believe in myself and I think I'm gonna get game time in this new season. I'm looking forward to bringing the glory days to Naturena," he added.
Chiefs have not won some silverware in nine seasons now, and the new technical team led by the outgoing ASFAR Rabat head coach is expected to hit the ground running. Mmodi, who joined Chiefs from Golden Arrows last year, says he’s up for the challenge of changing the status quo at the club.
"My targets for this season are to score as many goals as I can and make the team win the trophy like I said before. I'm willing to do my best than the first season."
