Real Madrid have reportedly engaged in discussions with Getafe president Angel Torres regarding a potential summer move for 30-year-old Spanish goalkeeper David Soria.
As reported by Spanish outlet MARCA, Real Madrid have expressed interest in David Soria, leading to recent negotiations for the Getafe shot-stopper. The meeting involved Jose Angel Sanchez, Real Madrid's General Director, and Angel Torres, Getafe's President.
Soria began his football journey in his home country, spending a significant portion of his youth career at Real Madrid. Despite progressing through La Fabrica's ranks, the Spaniard struggled to secure a place in the first-team due to the presence of Iker Casillas. Subsequently, he found success during his five-year tenure at Sevilla.
Since joining Getafe from Sevilla nearly five years ago, Soria's stock has risen significantly. The 30-year-old has made close to 200 appearances for the club from Madrid, achieving 68 clean sheets. However, his future at Coliseum Alfonso Perez remains uncertain as his former club, Real Madrid, shows growing interest.
Los Blancos could consider venturing into the goalkeeper market during the upcoming summer transfer window. Although Florentino Perez had previously hinted at the completion of their business for the year, the potential departure of Andriy Lunin from Santiago Bernabeu has created a need for a new goalkeeper.
Lunin, dissatisfied with his limited playing time, has been linked with a summer move away. Consequently, Soria has emerged as a viable target for Los Blancos.
Torres, Getafe's president, visited Valdebebas to discuss the future of Juanmi Latasa with Jose Angel Sanchez, Real Madrid's general director, and Juanma Lopez, Juanmi's agent.
However, the discussions also encompassed the potential acquisition of Soria. Additionally, Stole Dimitrievski has emerged as another goalkeeper target for Real Madrid. If Lunin departs this summer, the Bernabeu faithful will be eager to see who joins their ranks.
