Royal AM top goal scorer Victor Letsoalo has signed a three-year contract with Sekhukhune United in a surprise move confirmed to SABC Sport on Wednesday night.
The striker had been a key target for both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, but it had earlier emerged that he was priced out of the market.
SABC Sport reported in May that the Durban outfit had valued Letsoalo at R20-million for his potential move to Amakhosi, who eventually dropped out of the race and switched their focus elsewhere, inviting two international strikers for an assessment.
Indications are that Sekhukhune have paid less than R5-million for the player, who scored 16 goals in 30 games last season and finished runners-up behind Peter Shalulile in the Golden Boot race.
Pirates were also linked with Letsoalo but they too have got other targets - signing Evidence Makgopa from Baroka FC and Chippa United goal ace Bienvenu Eva Nga.
Meanwhile, Letsoalo now joins a long list of fresh faces at Babina Noko, among them forwards Tashreeq Morris and Tshegofatso Mabasa.
SABC Sport has been informed that the Bafana Bafana international has an added one-year option in his contract for Sekhukhune to trigger at the end of the three seasons that he has originally signed for.
And his transfer means AM have cashed in after they had exercised the one-year option on his contract which would have taken him to June 2023 but, with Babina Noko willing to pay, the sale has gone over the line.
The Durban outfit are currently in pre-season camp at the University of Pretoria's high-performance centre, though Letsoalo is expected to be unveiled by early next week.
