The Brazilians made it five straight wins at the weekend after beating Chippa United 1-0 in Gqeberha to go five points clear at the summit.
Mokwena discussed how he is improving the squad.
"We talk a lot, they probably get tired of me but we talk a lot. We talk a lot about these situations. I have a lot of help from the technical team too because they also talk a lot to the players and individual meetings and a lot of work behind the scenes. So, I've got to also congratulate and thank my technical staff for that," Mokwena said.
With six competitions for Sundowns this season, expectations are high for Mokwena and his side to deliver – the CAF Champions League being the most sought after trophy by the hierarchy.
The coach believes in his group.
"But also the biggest reason is that they are good human beings. They understand their roles as professionals and they work very hard and they derseve to keep winning and they understand the importance of consistency," Mokwena added.
Next up for the defending champions is Richards Bay, who remain winless in the season so far under new coach Kaitano Tembo.
Sundowns will again be looking to continue their dominance.
"Good team, good coach, very experienced King Kaizer, incredible human being. Also, it's some very good players. So, now it's recovery, drinking lots of water, good sleep. Get to Joburg and start preparing with video clips about this game. Wash it out and then start our preparations for a very difficult opponent."
