Ruben Amorim on Man Utd's Mason Mount: 'I love that kid'

Mason Mount's determination and work ethic have caught the eye of new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim during his first two weeks in charge.

Mount, who joined United from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, has had a challenging start to his Old Trafford career, plagued by injuries that have limited him to just 26 appearances so far.

However, Amorim is backing the midfielder to make a significant impact as the season progresses.

"Mason Mount... I have to tell you I love that kid," Amorim told club media on Friday.

"You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.

"I know he was suffering from injuries, he was not on the pitch, but now he's trying to stay fit and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he's shown, for example, in Chelsea."

Mount made his return to action in the final two games before the November international break. He came on as a substitute in United's 2-0 victory over PAOK and was an unused substitute in the 3-0 win against Leicester City.

Despite limited playing time, Amorim has been quick to praise Mount's movement, which stood out during the coach's first training session with the squad.

The head coach highlighted Mount's unique qualities, stating that his experience will be crucial in the upcoming weeks.

Amorim's strong backing suggests that, under his guidance, Mount could see an increase in appearances as he continues to recover from his injury setbacks.

With the backing of his new coach, Mount's determination to succeed at Manchester United appears unwavering.
