Mamelodi Sundowns bounced back from their CAF Champions League exit by thumping TS Galaxy 3-0 in the DStv Premiership, leaving their coach Rulani Mokwena impressed by the players’ mental resilience.

Another highlight for The Brazilians was striker Peter Shalulile scoring for the first time since December, with attacker Thembinkosi Lorch adding a third.

Mokwena had this to say about a victory that means Sundowns now only need three points to clinch the league title.

''I don't know how they do it, to show up all the time. To put into context - it's not just the physical application, but it's also from a psychological perspective, to give it your all in the Champions League and perform like that and bow out, and two days later you have to show up. It takes incredible human qualities to be able to do that,'' said Mokwena.

Sundowns were also able to keep a clean sheet, and Mokwena credits his technical team for making sure goalkeeper Ronwen Williams saved striker Bernard Parker’s penalty.

''I am very proud of this group, and also the technical team. Many people don't know some of the things that happen behind the scenes,'' added Mokwena

Mokwena also admits that the pain of being eliminated from the Champions League semifinals by Esperance last Friday spurred them on.

''There's a top coach last week who said don't fight your feelings, if you are sad you are sad, if you are disappointed you are disappointed - but still show up,'' he concluded.

The Sundowns mentor was also asked whether the win over Galaxy was even more satisfying because of his most recent public spat with his counterpart Sead Ramovic.
