The Brazilians beat Polokwane City 2-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday evening to remain top of the table after six matches, having won all of them and scoring 13 goals in the process.
Without getting ahead of himself, Mokwena insists they should be adding to their tally given chances created.
"When I say every day, I say 'it could be more'. We could score so many goals but let's take the two and keep working. Maybe the score line is good for us to keep humble and keep working hard," Mokwena said.
It’s almost a year since Sundowns were beaten in the DStv Premiership, that defeat coming against Tshwane rivals SuperSport United on 2 September.
Mokwena credited everyone at Chloorkop for pulling in the same direction.
"A lot of praise must go to the entire club. I think when you see what you see, it's not just the technical team or the coaches. It starts from senior management, the chairman of the football club for the investment, the motivation and the support that they give to us. The management of the club, we've got a lot of hard workers in the institution, these people work very, very hard," Mokwena added.
Even though he is demanding more goals, Mokwena doesn’t shy away from revealing he admires the way Sundowns get their business done on the pitch, which is part of the reason why they are dominating the PSL.
"I tell them that I enjoy watching them play and I think at essence it's my youthfulness because I say to them for the 90 minutes that they are on the pitch I would love to have a story that says I enjoyed what I saw. Not just the result and that's the pressure of Mamelodi Sundowns, you've got to play well and win. Winning without the performance is not good enough."
