The young Zwane is currently part of Chiefs’ pre-season camp in Turkey under the new technical leadership of Tunisian-Belgian head coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Part of the Amakhosi squad for the past two seasons, he played only eight matches last season after 15 games in his debut campaign, but his father expects him to put in more hard work this coming season.
"It does look like there's some positivity developing in that space, but I don't want to get too excited. We're going to see from team selection, firstly, and his performances," said Zwane Sr.
"All I'm hoping for is that he get's a chance to play, and when he gets the opportunity to play, he performs consistently.
"We know he's got the potential, all that remains is for him to be given a chance to fulfil that potential and for him to work hard enough to deliver consistently for the club."
The 22-year-old arrived at Chiefs at the age of 17, with the club having beaten Mamelodi Sundowns and now-defunct Bidvest Wits to his services.
Eugene says his son's talent has never been doubted, mentioning the two players he’s always told him to mirror his journey to.
"We've all been down that path, and the two most prominent examples of players he can relate to, that I always share with him, is Teko Modise and Themba Zwane," he noted.
"When they broke into the professional ranks, they were not starters, they even got loaned to other teams, but they came back and look at where they are now."
