Speaking to the media shortly after the game, Zwane says he was not surprised with Saile’s immediate impact, which saw him providing an assist for the second goal from Ashley du Preez. He says the plan was for Saile to study the game from the bench and capitalize on the shortcomings of the opposition.
"We didn't want to start him because we wanted to look at how the opposition will set up. We didn't want to put him under pressure, we wanted him to read the game from the bench and then take advantage from there. Whatever information we gave him before he went in, he did exactly that. So, congrats to him and the rest of the guys for executing the plan," Zwane said.
Zwane also revealed the decision behind the changes after dropping captain Itumeleng Khune and centre-back Zitha Kwinika from the starting line-up for Brandon Peterson and Siyabonga Ngezana. The back four of Edmlison Dove, Ngezana, Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons, Sifiso Hlanti as well as Brandon Peterson behind them kept a clean sheet yesterday after Chiefs had conceded six goals in three matches before this game.
"When you look at this game and the other previous games, there's no difference. The only difference today is the score line. We managed to take our chances. We missed Nkosingiphile Ngcobo due to injury and we decided to start with Mduduzi (Shabalala). You also saw (Siyethemba) Sithebe coming in, so we are creating that competition where everyone will show that hunger to go in there and compete and so far, they've all responded positively," Zwane concluded.
