Steve Komphela raves about Tshegofatso Mabasa as Swallows add to Spurs' woes

Moroka Swallows coach Steve Komphela raved about striker Tshegofatso Mabasa, who scored twice as the Dube Birds added to Cape Town Spur’s woes following a 3-1 win in the DStv Premiership last night.

The forward, who is on loan from Orlando Pirates, broke the deadlock in the first half and added another minute later before teammate Gabadinho Mhango all but sealed the three points before half-time.

Komphela says Mabasa is one of the best strikers in the PSL.

"The guy is talented. He's something else. Any high ball coming to him, his hold-up play, controls the ball, brings the team closer in and around the box. From Bloemfontein Celtics when I worked with him, when he was still at youth when he went to Orlando Pirates and I'm saying 'Tshego but what's lacking' he lacks nothing," Komphela said.

Mabasa spent the previous season at Sekhukhune United where his game time was limited, affecting his output.

Under Komphela he is the key man upfront, which will determine his future at the end of the season.

"If one were to start thinking and saying 'Where do you want Mabasa to go?'. He's okay here, we are extremely lucky to have him because the next question would be 'But wait a minute you should be somewhere else'.

Somewhere else where? Maybe abroad because the guy has got finesse, he's got the right attitude and he's intelligent. He's an intelligent person. So, he can handle a lot of dynamics but what we trying to fight for is to have a team that plays more as a unit.

Be more cohesive with more confidence, it doesn't come easy."
