Struggling to compete on all fronts SuperSport United prioritising the league

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has confirmed that they are prioritising the DStv Premiership over the CAF Confederation Cup, since they don’t have a strong squad to compete on all fronts.

Hunt was speaking after watching his side losing to Algerian giants and CAFCC defending champions USM Alger 2-0 in a Group A game played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane last night.

Not playing their home games in Gauteng is also taxing according to Hunt and makes the recovery period a nightmare.

"We know, internally we don't have the squad to go on these fronts. So, we gonna try consistently on our domestic front but this week has been tough. We've been in Egypt and played. It's more of the traveling, if we played in Johannesburg today [on Sunday] it would have been much easier in the sense of logistically but obviously we moving around a lot. For the next five games we don't play in Johanneburg again. Five games then another five games all over the show," Hunt said.

"Come up here twice, three times, Libya, so it's not easy this December and we don't have the squad to compete but we try. These games are good for us because it teaches me a lot about the players, teach me a lot about the team and we will build some really good players that's for sure from these types of games."

United have now lost their opening two matches in the group stages after also having suffered a defeat in their clash against Future FC from Egypt.

The draw was not kind to Amatsatsansa a Pitori, who were pitted against three North African teams in Group A.

As they look to the next fixture away to Al Hilal Benghazi in Libya, Hunt appears to have complete the fate of not reaching the quarterfinals.

"Difficult because there's four games left and now that we've lost this game especially going to this team away which obviously is a very good team. Certainly, got a lot more experience than we have and size and physicality was really good. So, we'll tackle that when we get there but we gotta go away this week.

"So, trying to take a team away and trying to obviously have one eye on the game when we come back because we gotta go to Libya and nobody goes to Libya but we gotta go there."
