Cele, addressing the media at the Amakhosi’s base in the Taung Village earlier this morning, says Chiefs is not a team that should be fighting for a top eight spot but at least for a top three position and contesting for silverware.
Chiefs host TS Galaxy in a Betway Premiership game in Polokwane on Saturday evening.
"Yeah, for sure man, for Kaizer Chiefs to be sitting where we're sitting, it's not nice, you can call it a crisis because I feel like even us as a team, we feel that we can do way better and we're working on that,” Cele said.
“Eventually I think it's something that is gonna come if we just keep on working on it and just believe in what we're doing it's gonna come because as we were talking, I think there's many positives that we can see but it's just a matter of being consistent and getting the results."
Chiefs have conceded 28 goals in 23 matches in the league so far this season, their greatest number of goals conceded in the PSL era in the league.
This is the third-worst defensive record in the league this season, and Cele says the lack of control in their game contributes to these defensive frailties.
"Yeah, I think you're right because we always look to control the games but sometimes, we tend to lose control very easily and it's something that's frustrating but I think it's something that we've been working on because if you see now, we're able to start from here, get here then to the final third,” he added.
“So, the control aspect I think is something that we have to maintain and just improve our final third results. So, I think with the coach, it's the message that's always there, that control, control, control so that we can create more chances and just win games.
“So, that's the message even amongst ourselves. When we talk amongst ourselves, it's just to maintain the positive frequency because in these times you have to be positive, so you have that drive to go again and again and again. So, that's the message amongst ourselves and the technical team, positivity."
Cele joined Chiefs at the beginning of this year from the Russian side Fakel Voronezh, and he’s been a shining light in a team that has been struggling.
