The biggest Premier League games in February

Premier League fans have plenty to look forward to in February, with the upcoming schedule packed with fixtures that could have a big bearing on issues at both ends of the table.

With that in mind, read on as we look at some of the standout games next month, starting with a clash between two teams who still harbour hopes of winning the title.

Arsenal vs Manchester City – February 2

Arsenal and Manchester City will head into the game at the Emirates Stadium desperate to keep in touch with Premier League leaders Liverpool. The fixture is guaranteed to spark a ton of interest on sportsbooks, and punters are spoilt for choice on betting sites in the UK given the number of markets available.

With neither side able to afford losing any further ground in the title race, it would be no surprise if a single goal either way determines the outcome.

Everton vs Liverpool – February 12

Liverpool’s game in hand over the title rivals is a short trip across the city to face local rivals Everton for the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

The Toffees are embroiled in another relegation battle, but will fancy their chances of delivering a damaging blow to Liverpool’s title hopes. The Reds were defeated 2-0 at Everton in the corresponding fixture last season and would be well advised to take nothing for granted in their latest meeting.

Manchester City vs Newcastle United – February 15

Man City have failed to live up to expectations in their quest to win a fifth successive title, but still have time to force their way back into contention.

Pep Guardiola’s side are generally stronger in the second half of the season and they are perfectly capable of piecing together a long unbeaten run.

Newcastle United have moved into the race for a top four finish, but City are a banker bet to pick up three points at the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United – February 16

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United went into the season with ambitions of finishing in the top four, but things have not gone to plan.

Their hopes of qualifying for Europe through their league position are remote and they desperately need to improve their form over the next few months.

The Red Devils will be gunning for revenge after Tottenham’s 3-0 victory at Old Trafford earlier in the season and they are fancied to set the record straight here.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea – February 22

Aston Villa and Chelsea are both in contention for Champions League qualification and this game could have a major say on their respective hopes.

Both sides have shown signs of defensive vulnerability this season, and it would be no surprise if fans are treated to plenty of goals at Villa Park.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Villa in all competitions and are perfectly capable of picking up at least a point on February 22.

Newcastle United vs Nottingham Forest – February 23

Newcastle were in a rich vein of form before they were brought back down to earth by Bournemouth, who claimed a stunning 4-1 victory at St James’ Park.

While the Magpies are still in the mix for European qualification, they will have their work cut out against much-improved Nottingham Forest.

The two-time European champions have been the surprise package in the Premier League this term and are fancied to take something from their visit to the north east.

Manchester City vs Liverpool – February 23

Man City will hope to have narrowed the gap on table-topping Liverpool ahead of their blockbuster meeting at the Etihad on February 23.

A victory for Guardiola’s side would crank up the pressure on the Reds and potentially cast doubt in their minds as the season hurtles towards the business end.

Liverpool have previously blown sizeable leads in the title race and City will be clinging to the hope that history repeats itself this term.

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal – February 26

Arsenal will end the month as they began it – with a fixture against a team who have the ability to blow a massive hole in their hopes of ending their title drought.

The Gunners have suffered badly with injuries to key players this term and they will hope things have eased by the time they visit the City Ground at the end of February.

Forest are enjoying a remarkable season and it will be intriguing to see if they can maintain their excellent form over the final few months of the campaign.
