There is always pressure when playing for Sundowns Ladies: Sedilame Boseja

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies goalkeeper Sedilame Boseja says there is always pressure when playing for the treble-winning side because of the high standards they set.

As the 2024 Hollywoodbets Super League resumes this weekend after the international break, the defending champions will be looking to maintain their lead at the top of the log standings. After 13 matches, Banyana ba Style are on 34 points – three clear of second-placed University of Johannesburg Ladies. Sundowns Ladies will be involved in a Tshwane Derby on Saturday when they face neighbours TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies.

''There is a lot of pressure at Sundowns, because we have set a standard for ourselves - there's always pressure for the team at the top. But we just continue working hard at training and try to execute what we have practiced,'' said Boseja.

Born in Botswana, Boseja arrived in South Africa in 2017 and joined the now defunct Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies. Four years later (2021) she found a home at Sundowns Ladies where she has won everything with the side but remains humble.

''It is very different and I am still finding my feet within the team, but I am learning and growing everyday. It's been an exciting journey for me so far, playing amongst such great players,'' added Boseja.

The Botswana Women’s National Team number one goalkeeper is competing for a spot with South Africa’s Andile Dlamini, among others, says she knew of the stiff competition at the club and that has helped her to work even harder.

Sundowns Ladies are heading to the annual and prestigious Women’s Cup in the USA in August where they are going to face hosts Kansas City Current, Spain’s Atletico Madrid and Vissel Kobe from Japan. They are the first African team to be invited and Boseja says she is looking forward to the trip.
