Thomas Frank delighted after Brentford's incredible comeback win

Thomas Frank delighted after Brentford's incredible comeback winThomas Frank was full of praise for his side after they were able to recover from two goals down to beat Ipswich 4-3 in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Bees found themselves with a mountain to climb when goals from Sam Szmodics and George Hirst put the visitors firmly in control.

But it was all square before the break as Yoane Wissa pulled one back and Harry Clarke's own goal levelled matters.

Brentford went ahead for the first time from the penalty spot as Bryan Mbeumo converted, and even when Ipswich substitute Liam Delap equalised in the 86th minute, Brentford managed to snatch a winner through Mbeumo in stoppage time.

Frank said: "The reaction is fantastic, the personality and the character is fantastic; so big credit to the team for that.

"I'm happy because we cannot take anything for granted for winning in the Premier League, we've been so good offensively for a lot of the minutes in the game and for showing the mentality to come back.

"Also, it's then being so irritated about the first 40 minutes which I think is 40 of our worst minutes in the Premier League, against a good Ipswich team who did well.

"In the last five minutes of the first half and in the second half, clearly we were the better team, but we didn't kill the game. It's not that we didn't try to go for the (goal to make it) 4-2. We tried to get it but it didn't come for whatever reason."

Kristoffer Ajer missed the clash through injury as Sepp van den Berg replaced him at full-back.

Frank provided an injury update on the Norway international, saying: "It is a minor foot injury. We maybe could have pushed him through the game but it's not worth it.

"We rested him and probably will rest him again on Tuesday (against Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup) and then he should be fit and available for Fulham."

It was Ipswich's third straight defeat, and boss Kieran McKenna told TownTV: "I thought there were some incredible aspects of the performance and I'm so proud of the players, both individually and as a group.

"They really pulled through a challenging week and delivered a performance which I know the supporters were proud of.

"It's sickening not to get any points from the game and for it to come so late and in the manner that it did."
