Thomas Muller delights in Bayern Munich dominance after thrashing Union Berlin

Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller is happy that the club's style of play under head coach Vincent Kompany is both pleasing to watch and very effective.

Muller was speaking to journalists after the Bavarians trounced Union Berlin 3-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run in the league this season to nine games and secure their place at the top of the standings.

While he admits they were far from perfect, he says it is clear they are moving in the right direction.

"If we analyze it in detail, there were certainly a few situations today, especially in the first half, where we were a bit lucky," he said.

"But the path we are taking at the moment is not only producing a great style of play, but also results. We are dominant and we're allowing very few shots, especially when you compare that to the past few years.

"We have now won three games with clean sheets against teams that are themselves more defensively oriented. Accordingly, it's of course different to playing against Barcelona or Frankfurt.

"But it's still the case that we actually have a lot of control with our style of play and the opponent has few promising scoring chances. The quality is great."

The Bavarians face a new challenge in the Champions League in midweek with Portuguese giants Benfica set to test their new style of play.
