Thomas Muller embraces new era at Bayern Munich under Vincent Kompany

At 34, Muller remains committed to contributing to the team, despite the uncertainties surrounding his role under Kompany.

Muller, who has excelled in various attacking positions throughout his career, including as an attacking midfielder and forward, emphasised his determination to stay relevant.

"I'm working very hard to get as much playing time as possible - but that's what everyone wants," Muller told Kicker. He remained confident in his abilities, stating, "I still see my strengths in creating chances and scoring goals."

However, Muller admitted that it was difficult to predict the extent of his involvement under Kompany, who was still settling into his new role.

"It's a new situation for everybody. Obviously, I hope that I can contribute the skills that make me different in a positive way and that the coach wants to use them," he noted.

Despite the uncertainty, Muller is pleased with the progress made so far, highlighting that the team had already begun implementing Kompany's ideas.

"At the moment it looks like everything has a solid foundation," Muller said. "What I like is that we've already been able to implement the things we set out to do in the first few friendlies."

As Muller's contract with Bayern is set to expire next summer, he remains uncertain about his future with the club. "At the moment I don't know what my role will be. Football is much too fast and lively for that," he remarked, though he assured fans that he felt "fit as a fiddle and full of energy".

A product of Bayern's youth system, Muller has enjoyed a decorated career with the club, boasting twelve Bundesliga titles, among other major honours.

His journey with Bayern, which began with his breakthrough in the 2009-10 season, has seen him become one of the club's most iconic figures.
