The Mpumalanga-born lawyer reiterated the call for PSL clubs to start women’s football teams, which will help the development of the women’s game.
Currently, only four PSL clubs have women’s teams in the Hollywoodbets Super League – TS Galaxy, Mamelodi Sundowns, Royal AM, while Supersport United have a partnership with TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies. Sukazi says there is no excuse for other clubs not to follow suit.
"We need to see in the immediate future in my view, we need to see the Hollywoodbets Super League log table reflecting at least super majority of the clubs in the PSL. It has to look almost like the PSL,” Sukazi said.
“In other words, all PSL clubs, they need to come forward and be part of the women's game. In my view there's no excuse, we can say all that we want but there's no excuse. Clubs will do it if they wish to and of course, they won't do it if they don't wish to do it but then mine is to say, it's for the good of the development of our women's game if we could have PSL clubs being part of it."
Sukazi has commended Stellenbosch FC for also acquiring a women’s team that plays in the Sasol League but believes they should have joined the elite league immediately. Sukazi admits, however, that it is a good start.
"Stellenbosch has done likewise, they followed suit now, although they came in at the Sasol level. I don't understand why but maybe they can explain themselves. They should have come into this league, that's where they belong.
“So, in other words, you put all stops, you do everything possible, if it means you spend a few millions to acquire the franchise as we've done, you do that. Get yourself here because it's for the good of the game and they've got all the resources at Stellenbosch."
