The 27-year-old forward, who has scored 11 goals across all competitions this season, injured his knee during training and missed the recent matches against Everton and Hoffenheim.
"All the information now is kind of we're looking at around the six-week mark for him," Postecoglou said after the Europa League match against Hoffenheim.
"No surgery, but maybe we can get him back a little bit earlier, we'll just see how he progresses, but at this stage it's only around six weeks."
The absence of Solanke adds to Tottenham's growing injury list, with up to 11 senior players currently unavailable.
In Solanke's stead, Richarlison started against Hoffenheim, but he too is returning from a two-month injury lay-off and will need careful management.
Looking ahead, Tottenham face a critical home match against Leicester in the Premier League. The team are keen to improve their form, having secured only one win in their last ten outings, as they aim to avoid a slide towards the relegation zone.
Regarding potential squad reinforcements before the transfer window closes on February 3, Postecoglou noted, "Yeah, potentially. The club is working hard to try to get some help for the players, but as far as I know, there's nothing imminent."
He added, "But things happen quickly in the last week of the window, so still hopeful."
Postecoglou was complimentary of his players' performances in the 3-2 win against Hoffenheim, particularly highlighting the leadership of captain Son Heung-min who scored twice. "I thought he really stood up today. We needed him to," Postecoglou said, also acknowledging the contributions from James Maddison and other key players. "Look, we are all copping stick at the moment. That is the nature of the beast."
Amidst speculation about his future at the club, it's reported that Tottenham's technical director, Joha Lange, has been considering potential replacements for Postecoglou, with names like Edin Terzic, Andoni Iraola, and Thomas Frank being mentioned. However, the club seems committed to supporting Postecoglou through this challenging period.
On a positive note, Cristian Romero has returned to training and could bolster the defense soon, potentially alleviating some of the pressure on the squad.
However, the injury to midfielder Pape Sarr before the Hoffenheim game has further complicated matters for Tottenham.
