Trent Alexander-Arnold eyes Real Madrid move as Liverpool contract nears expiry

Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly informed Liverpool that he does not intend to sign a new contract, setting the stage for a summer departure.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, the Liverpool academy product has his sights set on joining Real Madrid, where the opportunity to reunite with close friend Jude Bellingham serves as an additional draw.

With his current deal expiring in six months, Alexander-Arnold plans to leave Anfield as a free agent at the end of the season.

Liverpool, aware of his decision, would prefer to retain him until the summer, valuing his contributions to their push for silverware over a potential January transfer fee.

For Alexander-Arnold, the move represents a chance to embrace a new challenge after a trophy-laden career with his boyhood club.

The reigning Champions League holders, Real Madrid, have expressed a willingness to negotiate terms as early as January, indicating their interest in securing the talented right-back.

Alexander-Arnold has also expressed long-term aspirations of winning the Ballon d'Or, a feat unprecedented for a right-back, and views Real Madrid as the ideal platform to further those ambitions.

His potential departure adds to the uncertainty surrounding Liverpool, as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also approach the end of their contracts this summer.
