While The Brazilians have already played in the MTN8 and CAF Champions League, their crosstown rivals were last in competitive action on 3 August.
But Modiba believes, given the magnitude of the Tshwane Derby, SuperSport should not be taken for granted.
"We know Tshwane derbies are about bragging rights in Pretoria. It's not going to be easy, and I've managed to be on both sides," said Modiba.
"When I was at SuperSport, playing against Sundowns was always a game to look forward to because there are our rivals from our area, so it's going to be a tough one. I think we're ready for the task.
"They haven't played in a long time, but that doesn't count. At the end of the day, derbies are different, derbies are special, and we're looking forward to that game.
"We're going to put up a fight, we're going to make sure we try by all means to get all the points, and hopefully we can do that on the day."
The Bafana Bafana international expects the Tshwane Derby to live up to expectations of delivering goals.
"What I like about the Tshwane Derby is there's always goals – every season, if I'm not mistaken, it's very rare that it ends 0-0, which shows the importance of the game and how much each team wants to win," he added.
"The three points is very important, and starting the league on a high shows that we maybe want to be on a good track going into the season, so it's very important to do well in your first game."
