TUT Ladies defender believes they have turned the corner after valuable draw

TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies defender Paballo Chela believes they have turned the corner after holding high-flying defending league champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies to a 1-all draw this past weekend.

The result comes at the back of a poor run by the Red Army who last won a game in April. Since then, they have lost seven consecutive matches, including a 6-1 drubbing by fellow students, the University of the Western Cape. Chela says they will use the point they gained from their neighbours as motivation going forward.

''Looking back at how we were losing so many games before we collected that point against Mamelodi Sundowns. I think it was a very tough path for us, it was tough to be at training and to go to the games and not get the results back. This point we got from the reigning champions it works as a motivation to all of us as players going forward,'' said Chela.

Chela adds that with all the resources they have as a university team, they should be doing better than their current situation. She is confident they will finish in the top five to emulate the 2021 and 2022 seasons when they were second and third respectively.

''We are in 10th position now, I think we can do better with the resources that we have and with the support we get from our management, we can push up to position five,'' added Chela.

Reflecting on the much talked about and unexpected result against Sundowns Ladies in the Tshwane Derby, Chela says they brought their A game and put up a very good fight.
