UJ ladies endured a challenging 2022/2023 Hollywoodbets Super League season - failing to secure a top 8 spot, finishing ninth with 43 points - just a point behind Durban ladies.
"I think for this new season, we are looking to improve how we did last season. I think we didn't do as great as we had anticipated in the beginning of the season and I think that's something that myself, the team, as well as the girls, we've sat down and we've seen where we made major mistakes," Dunga said.
"Also just working throughout the preseason to just try and eliminate most of them or rather just get ready. Have a backup plan for a backup plan for another backup plan should we face all the challenges and just be equipped for each one of them.
The Johannesburg outfit has made strides in preseason to boost their squad, making sure that they have a strong attacking force ahead of the new season. UJ ladies have released three players, and introduced eight new signings, including forwards Gugu Dhlamini and Mpho Seabi.
"Exciting talent, we always work very hard to try and develop younger players coming up through our structures and I can make mention of one of our up-and-coming stars, who we developed from our regional league through the Sasol ranks and now they are part of our Hollywoodbets Super League,” Dunga added.
“Speaking of Sthembile Sandleni, a very amazing player, playing in the midfield of our team. Also plays as a box-to-box position 8. I can also make mention of some of the other players that you already know of, Lusanda Mavundla, Yolanda Nduli, Angela Munasi just to make mention of a few but I think this is gonna be a season where Sithembili Sandleni, Sibongakonke Mzobe, they're going to be shining within our team. So, those are the two that I can just mention at this present moment."
