UWC learn CAF Women's Champions League qualifying opponents

South African representatives University of the Western Cape have learnt their fate in the upcoming CAF Women's Champions League COSAFA qualifying tournament.

The university outfit have qualified for their maiden COSAFA Qualifiers following Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies' triumph in last year's CAF WCL, which earned them automatic qualification to the final showpiece in 2024.

Cooach Thinasonke Mbule will have to lead her charges through a stern test in the zonal qualifiers set to take place in Malawi from 15-24 August.

In Blantyre, UWC have been drawn in Group A and will come up against Green Buffaloes from Zambia, who won the COSAFA Qualifier back in 2022 to appear at their maiden Champions League in Morocco later that year.

Also in the group are Herentals Queens from Zimbabwe and FC Ongos of Namibia, with the top two teams set to advance to the knockout phase of the tournament, with the overall winners set to join Sundowns at the finals expected to held later this year.

The hosts and details of the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League have yet to be confirmed.
