VfL Bochum sack Peter Zeidler and Marc Lettau after dismal start

VfL Bochum have dismissed head coach Peter Zeidler and sporting director Marc Lettau following a disastrous beginning to their Bundesliga campaign.

After securing just one point from their first seven matches, Bochum's 3-2 loss to Hoffenheim on Saturday proved to be the final blow.

In an official statement, the club expressed disappointment with their lack of progress.

"Despite numerous discussions and efforts in recent weeks, significant improvement on the pitch and in the standings has not been achieved," the statement read.

Bochum's board, along with the sporting team, conducted an in-depth review, concluding that the current setup was unlikely to achieve the goal of avoiding relegation.

Zeidler, who took charge in the summer, could not reverse Bochum's fortunes, with six defeats in seven matches leaving them at the bottom of the table.

As a result, the club acted swiftly, replacing him with Markus Feldhoff and Murat Ural, both UEFA Pro licence holders, to manage the team on an interim basis.

Feldhoff, Zeidler's former assistant, will also handle media responsibilities.

Bochum are expected to make further announcements soon regarding their long-term strategy.

Their next training session, led by the new duo, is set for Tuesday afternoon.
