Victor Osimhen's PSG move signals return to Ligue 1

Victor Osimhen has reportedly agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer, marking his return to France.

Despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, these Premier League clubs were priced out of a deal.

PSG and Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal emerged as the most likely destinations for the Super Eagles striker.

Interestingly, Osimhen rejected multiple offers from Al-Hilal, despite the Saudi club's willingness to meet Napoli's transfer demands. While his preferred destination was the English Premier League, Osimhen was open to a move to France.

According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen gave the green light to PSG, indicating his readiness to join the Parisians. The key part of the deal remained the negotiations between PSG and Napoli, with the French giants requesting a discount on Osimhen's release clause of €130 million.

Feelers from Napoli have suggested that the deal was nearing completion. Reports from Tutto Napoli indicate that Osimhen's time in Naples is effectively over, with the 25-year-old striker potentially leaving Napoli's training camp imminently. He was not expected to wear the club's shirt again.

Napoli took no risks regarding Osimhen, leaving him out of their first friendly of the season due to a slight muscle strain.

The Super Eagles forward also suspended training without any official reasons, with Napoli keen to avoid any potential injuries before the transfer was finalized.

Osimhen is no stranger to France, having spent a season at LOSC Lille after joining from Belgium's Royal Sporting Charleroi. During an impressive campaign at Lille, Osimhen scored 18 goals across all competitions and won the Prix Marc-Vivien Foe as the best African footballer in Ligue 1.
