Vincent Kompany frustrated as Bayern Munich slip to defeat against Villa

Vincent Kompany voiced frustration as Bayern Munich fell 1-0 to Aston Villa in the Champions League, marking his first defeat in charge of the German giants.

A late goal from Jhon Duran in the 79th minute handed Villa a famous victory at Villa Park on Wednesday.

Speaking after the match, Kompany reflected on the missed opportunities that cost his side dearly.

"We started well, controlled the first 15 minutes, but then lost our rhythm," Kompany explained to DAZN. "In the second half, we were better, created great chances, but we didn't take them."

Despite dominating large parts of the game, Bayern struggled to break through, with Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez making several crucial saves.

Harry Kane, Bayern's star striker, highlighted Martinez's performance as a key factor in the result. "Their keeper had a fantastic game," Kane said to UEFA.com. "We could have played another 20 minutes, and it still wouldn't have gone in."

Kane also touched on Bayern's issues in the final third, admitting their lack of precision was costly.

"We missed that final pass or finish in their box, and when we went 1-0 down, we couldn't recover," he added.

Kane remained optimistic, stating, "We need to learn from this, but there's no reason to panic. We have a big game on Sunday, and we'll regroup for that."

Bayern now turn their focus to their Bundesliga clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, leading the Bundesliga table by just one point.
