Vincent Kompany says Bayern's performance not enough for victory

Bayern Munich's coach Vincent Kompany had mixed emotions following his team's 1-1 Bundesliga draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

While he was pleased with the overall performance, the missed opportunity for victory left him frustrated.

"As Bayern coach, you always want to win at home," Kompany expressed after the match. He emphasised that the way his team played was in line with their objectives: "The important thing is that we keep going and trust that we can win so many games."

Despite creating several chances, the Bavarians couldn't convert them into goals. "You don't normally get that many chances in a game like this. We had them, so it's a shame we didn't win," he added. The coach recognised the quality of the match, stating, "It was a top match, and it looked like a top match."

On the other side, Leverkusen's coach Xabi Alonso was satisfied with the point gained from the match. His team had to dig deep against a dominant Bayern side, which pushed them back for most of the game.

"You have to sacrifice a lot against Bayern. We had a few problems," Alonso noted, highlighting the effort of his players: "The whole team did very well. We hardly had a chance to breathe. But I'm very proud of my players."

The result leaves Bayer Leverkusen in third place, three points adrift of Bayern.

Concerns arose when Bayern's Harry Kane limped off late in the match due to a challenge from Amine Adli.

However, the England captain quelled fears of a serious injury, stating, "It was painful, but it's not too bad. I assume I will be able to play" in their upcoming Champions League clash against Aston Villa.

Bayern's CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen echoed Kane's sentiments, indicating the injury was likely not serious. Kane has enjoyed a prolific start to the season, netting ten goals in his first seven matches.
