Vincent Pule completes medical, set for new club after Pirates exit

SABC Sport can reveal winger Vincent Pule is on the verge of putting pen to paper with his new club following his Orlando Pirates departure.

The 32-year-old is understood to have completed his medical at SuperSport United and will move to the next step and discuss personal terms as he looks for a fresh chapter that includes reuniting with coach Gavin Hunt.

Pirates confirmed Pule was leaving the Soweto giants after six years with The Buccaneers, insuring him with a clearance to make him available as a free agent.

According to information gathered by the public broadcaster, the former Bidvest Wits talisman was not short of suitors with AmaZulu believed to have also been in the fray as they watched his situation closely.

But with a medical done and Hunt probably being a big part of the players’ thought process as he considered other offers before making up his mind, an announcement that he will be joining the Tshwane side now appears imminent.

Pule had recently put pen to paper on a new contract at Pirates, but things changed when he fell down the pecking order for coach Jose Riveiro.

His overall numbers for The Buccaneers are impressive as he featured in 146 matches, scoring 23 goals and adding 12 assists in over six seasons.

Hunt previously worked with Pule at Wits before the winger signed for Pirates on the back of strong interest from rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

SuperSport have also recently concluded a deal to sign another experienced winger in Keagan Dolly and Pule’s imminent arrival will be yet another boost.
